5+yrs
If you are new to our gym (or if you just need a refresher) you will find the below information very helpful.
Enrolments
If you’re reading this you are probably already enrolled in one of our classes – WOOHOO! But if you are yet to enrol, you can do so by clicking REGISTER and following the prompts!
Re-enrolments from term to term
WE DON’T AUTOMATICALLY ROLL OVER YOUR ENROLMENT FROM TERM TO TERM! The reason we don’t is because most of the time kids need to change classes either because they need to go to an older age group, they want to move up to a harder level or they just want to swap to a different time. But don’t worry, we make it easy for you to book your class from term to term!
HERE IS HOW IT WORKS:
PRIORITY BOOKINGS: At the end of each term we email a PRIORITY BOOKINGS EMAIL to all our current members. You will have the option to
A) Enrol in the same class for next term OR
B) Request to change to a different class
We give you 2 weeks to reply to the PRIORITY BOOKINGS EMAIL and change of class requests are processed on a first come – first serve basis.
After the 2 week period we open General Bookings to new members.
A LOT OF OUR CLASSES FILL UP QUICKLY SO PLEASE RE-ENROLL EARLY TO SECURE YOUR SPOT!
The first 2 weeks of term
For the first 2 weeks of term before the classes start, the children are asked to wait in the foyer. One of the coaches will let the children know when they can come into the gym to get started. The coaches will go through the gym rules with the children and then we will call out each class roll so that the children know which group they are in and who their coach is. We do this for the first two weeks, just in case the children forget which group they are in. From the 3rd week on the children will go directly to their coach. If you are late one of the coaches or the supervisor on the day will help your child find their class. If you have any questions, please ask the admin team in the office.
Parents in the gym
We do not allow parents in the gym at any time after 3pm. There is limited space in the gym and parents can be distracting for the children. If you have a child who is shy, please let a coach know and we can take them to their class for you. If you would like to stay while your child’s class is on, we have seating upstairs in the gallery (EFS) or in the foyer. You are welcome to drop your children off and pick them up again at the end of their class. We have all your contact details on the online database so please make sure your phone numbers and emails are kept updated so we can contact you if we need to.
What to wear
- Girls can wear leotards or shorts and a T-shirt (we have a selection of new and second hand leotards for sale – please ask at the office).
- Boys can wear shorts and a t-shirt.
- Anything is fine if the children are free to move in it and it’s not too baggy.
- Long hair needs to be tied up and please no jewellery.
Carpark (Eventfinda Stadium Only)
The carpark is often used as a through road by the public and is used by lots of other people which can make it a very dangerous place for children to be unsupervised. Please make sure that you park and come to the safe zone to pick up your children. We do not like the children walking themselves across the carpark to their parents who are waiting in their car. Please do not park in the safe zone at any time and please use the 5-minute parking responsibly. The 5-minute carparks are for parents to park, run in and drop off/collect their children and then leave. If you are going to be staying for longer than 5 minutes, please park in the other car spaces. Directly in front of the gym is a seating area where you are welcome to sit before or after class. This area is blocked off from traffic but is not child proof so please keep an eye on your children when using this area.
Pick Up (Eventfinda Stadium Only)
At the end of each session the children will be let out the side door and into the carpark. We cone off this area of the carpark so that the children are safe during drop off/pick up times. The children who are waiting for the session after yours will wait in the foyer just before their class, so this area is too busy to have both sessions in at the same time. A coach will wait outside with the children to make sure they are picked up and any children who have not been picked up will be taken to the office to wait for their parents. We will let the children know to get their shoes, drink bottles and other items and meet you outside in the carpark safe zone area. Please do not ask your children to meet you somewhere else after class – they must leave via the side door so we can ensure everyone is picked up and is safe. If it is raining, we will let the children out into the foyer. This doesn’t happen very often thankfully as it creates a very busy few minutes!
Lost property
Anything left over after each day is put into our lost property bin. This is kept in the foyer on the half round table. Lost Property will only be kept for two weeks and then will be donated. If you’ve lost something please check our lost property as soon as possible.
Communication
Our main method of communication is via email. You will receive event reminders, instructions on how to rebook for the following terms, newsletters and other general information. We limit the amount of ‘stuff’ we send you so if you do receive an email from us it is always something of general importance. It is important that you keep your email updated on your online account so we can contact you easily and so you know what is going on in the gym. On a rare occasion our emails may end up in your junk folder, so please check your junk folder and add our emails to your contacts if one of our emails does end up in there!
If at any time throughout your child’s time with us they say that their class is a bit boring or too easy then it pays to contact the admin team on info@nhgym.co.nz to see about sorting a more suitable class for them – our aim is to provide each child with a class to suits them best.
Please let the admin team know if you ever have any questions, concerns or general wonderings. We are always happy to explain things to you or help whenever we can.
Photography & Social Media
We have a dedicated social media person who along with some of our coaches takes pictures/videos in the gym for our Facebook, website and instagram @nhg_gym. If you do not wish to have your child featured on our social media platforms/website please let us know!
You’re welcome to take photos/videos of your child’s gym achievements but we ask that you do not record anyone else in the gym. We love seeing what you get up to at NHG so feel free to share your posts with us by tagging us on instagram @nhg_gym
